Dialogue Five



(Rural bus stop. Cornfield. Paved road. No potholes. Kate stands. Gary waits for the bus. The crickets mean quiet and twilight. Kate is cold. Gary notices, but that doesn't matter, as they don't know each other.)

GARY: It's horrible that you ate all that butter.

KATE: I won't remember.

GARY: When we raise our children—

(They don't know each other. Curtain.)
