The Path One Cannot Be Dissuaded From

On one shore a line of men
armed as though
against lamentation

and on the other those
who would breach
headwinds, who would

wade out into
the interactive map
of human suffering

On no shore everyone else
and the future as a beige sectional
couch metastasizing
